πŸ† The biggest winner of 2023

up 5X year-to-date

GM everyone. This is 2036, the crypto newsletter that pays you.

We know 2023 ain't over yet, but in crypto land where markets move faster than your podcast at 3x speed - we're crowning a YTD-winner.

We don't know whether this trend will continue... but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Crypto's off to a great start this year.

But one dark corner of crypto came totally out of nowhere and took the whole space by surprise: Bitcoin NFTs.

We talked about Bitcoin NFTs 3 weeks ago, but since then, things have only gotten crazier.

There are now over 200,000 Bitcoin NFTs - named Ordinals - in existence, virtually all of which were minted in the last month alone.

And last week, Yuga Labs, the creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, announced they were dropping an NFT collection on bitcoin too.

Remember these guys?

This is huge news. Those are the OG NFT guys. And they're doing Bitcoin NFTs.

The collection will be limited to just 300 pieces that'll look something like this:

The sale of each individual piece will be held via an auction - which is currently underway. It ends today at 3pm PST.

To participate, you'll need:

  • a bitcoin wallet that contains bitcoin so you can bid

  • another empty bitcoin wallet to receive your Ordinal if you win.

Looks like those Wallet Wednesdays are starting to pay off.

You can get more details on the auction here:

We have no idea whether Bitcoin NFTs will continue to explode in popularity, but with the entry of Yuga Labs into the ecosystem, it's becoming increasingly likely.

And it's not just the NFTs themselves that are skyrocketing in value.

Stacks (STX), a Layer 2 network built on top of bitcoin that lets developers build smart contracts on BTC - is up 5X year-to-date.

Oh yeah.

βœ… Task: earn $15 for giving us your thoughts on Bitcoin NFTs

Today's task is a little different than most.

Bitcoin NFTs are an entirely new topic. There isn't a lot to build on.

So we're going to crowdfund the best resources on the topic.

And that's what we want to hear from you today.

What are your thoughts on Bitcoin NFTs? What are some useful resources you've found on the topic? Why are you bullish or bearish?

Send us your thoughts by filling in this form right here.

The two best submissions will receive $15 each.

We'll also share the best resources in a future newsletter soon.

In the meantime, we're following the Twelvefold auction closely πŸ‘€

And tomorrow, we'll explain a new ETH announcement that is huge news for the ecosystem.

Until then,

P.S. The year has started out strong for crypto. Bitcoin is holding up above the $22K level. But you know what makes us even more bullish? That everyone else is still so bearish...

Investors are more risk averse than at any time since the Global Financial Crisis in 2009.

Be greedy when others are fearful.
